Link to DOJ document about Assange indictment

Over the past ten plus years, Assange/Wikileaks using the “cover” of solely being the conduit of information received.

What seems to have now occurred is:
The fact that the new leadership of Ecuador has soured on him apparently because he had broken the agreement between him and the country so Ecuador gave permission for UK law enforcement to come in and remove him. This removal by the UK due to his skipping bail.

Here in the USA the charges seem to be based on the fact that the “cover story” he and Wikileaks have clenched to is not fully accurate.  According to the DOJ the charges are because of:

“The indictment alleges that in March 2010, Assange engaged in a conspiracy with Chelsea Manning, a former intelligence analyst in the U.S. Army, to assist Manning in cracking a password stored on U.S. Department of Defense computers connected to the Secret Internet Protocol Network (SIPRNet), a U.S. government network used for classified documents and communications. Manning, who had access to the computers in connection with her duties as an intelligence analyst, was using the computers to download classified records to transmit to WikiLeaks. Cracking the password would have allowed Manning to log on to the computers under a username that did not belong to her. Such a deceptive measure would have made it more difficult for investigators to determine the source of the illegal disclosures.

During the conspiracy, Manning and Assange engaged in real-time discussions regarding Manning’s transmission of classified records to Assange. The discussions also reflect Assange actively encouraging Manning to provide more information. During an exchange, Manning told Assange that “after this upload, that’s all I really have got left.” To which Assange replied, “curious eyes never run dry in my experience.”

Assange is charged with conspiracy to commit computer intrusion and is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt. If convicted, he faces a maximum penalty of five years in prison. Actual sentences for federal crimes are typically less than the maximum penalties.”

2 cents: The DOJ has been shown recently to create and flat out lie about “paper trails” and such so I am not confident that the DOJ story is completely accurate and true. The MSM and DNC have been calling for his head for two plus years. Recent history has plainly shown that DOJ leadership will do by hook or crook what the DNC wants. This would then mean, as also recent history has shown, the federal district judges will ignore law and legislate from their pedestal so that the DNC gets what they want. The DNC and MSM have been peddling for over two years that Assange was and is Trump’s lackey. It will be interesting to see how this plays out.
